Guinea Pig
In the wild, guinea pigs live in a community, they groom each other and share the nest. If you’re buying them as a pet, it’s best to get a pair of the same sex, as one on its own may be lonely.
One of the most sociable rodent species in the world; guinea pigs are herbivores, so they should be fed high-quality hay, a dried mix or pellets of guinea pig food, and fresh vegetables to supplement their diet. Hay is crucial to a guinea pig’s diet, as they need the fibre to keep their digestive system healthy.
A domestic guinea pig kept in the right conditions, with a healthy diet, can live up to eight years in captivity and can be a great pet for children.
